How to Be a Gentleman

I just love Sven Raphael Schneider and his Youtube channel, "Gentleman's Gazette." Sven gives lots of advice on how to be a gentleman -- and not a peasant. He has made videos on table manners, how to be likeable, how to coordinate clothing.

Sven's sense of humor is subtle. His advice is probably solid. The videos are entertaining.

Baroque Theorobo

Elizabeth Kenney tells about and plays the baroque theorobo, a large lute-like instrument.

Bigwax, "Good Feeling"

A nice new little song from Bigwax, "Good Feeling."  These ladies create such sweet harmonies.

France Musique

France Musique.  For the past few weeks, I have been listening to the beautiful music that is archived and broadcast on this website.  The music has a broad range of classical, new music, and even some interesting amalgamations of jazz and classical.

Thus far in my listening, my favorite piece is the madrigal, Claudio Monteverdi (1567-1643) O primavera, gioventu dell’ anno, Sfogava con le stelle.  It appears on the linked page on the main player at about 19:00 minutes, just after the clapping ends for the prior piece.  The recording quality is so excellent, it sounds as if we are sitting there listening.

Brain Pickings

Brain Pickings. A dear friend emailed me a lovely newsletter to which he subscribes.  It is called, "Brain Pickings."  It seems to be a celebration of all the good things in life.  Here is a link to one of the entries, an essay about the time commitment to creating a wonderful book for children.  A Velocity of Being.

Raspberry Beret - introduction

I just got word from Google that they are giving some of my blogs special status - including this one! That means -- I need to start posting cool stuff here. I meant for this site to be a celebration of some of the best and most beautiful things in life.

I think what I'll do is I'll pick out good music, pictures, videos, and ideas off the internet and share them with you. How's that for a plan?
